synopsis
Warren’s 16th birthday is rapidly approaching. His unstable memories, obsession with the past, and haunting invention all come to a critical head on his birthday weekend.
Warren is a nostalgic teenager stuck in his worst nightmare: the present. He attempts to relive every day over and over again, scouring for moments & memories worth recording. The only memories he does have that are worth preserving are locked away inside a mysterious machine…
Sarah meets Warren at the lake; his only other respite from his grim surroundings. After she sees his memory machine, she begins to wonder…could it be used for more than just his memories? As they explore their pasts, they realize that tampering with memories can have unexpected consequences, blurring the lines between reality and the past…
Memory. noun, mem·or·y, mem·or·ies. the act or fact of retaining and recalling impressions and facts; remembrance; recollection: to draw from memory.
What if you could relive your memories - any of them? What if you had all your memories at your fingertips, all organized and at the ready, and it was as simple as just a press of a button to relive them? The Lake in the Sky explores these questions with heart and grit through the lenses of childhood, grief, nostalgia, and memory with energetic, high-concept, dark, and (at times) underwater sequences.
